UnitedHealthcare Global for faculty, staff and students
When traveling abroad on University business, Cornell faculty, staff and students are provided with travel assistance services through our program with UnitedHealthcare Global. (Create a free user account at UHC Global using the Cornell United Healthcare Global ID# 343211). Not to be confused with health insurance, UnitedHealthcare Global supports Cornell travelers with travel assistance, medical assistance, and medical, security and natural disaster emergency evacuation. Use the attached letter template below for confirmation of UHC coverage; this is required to obtain a visa in some countries.
If you are injured or become ill while traveling, you should plan on relying on your own health insurance to cover medical expenses; expect to pay out-of-pocket. UnitedHealthcare Global can assist with hospital payments, but the traveler remains responsible for the expenses incurred.
NOTE: If you are traveling for personal or non-university business, please contact Diana Winslow at 410-308-7904 or Diana.firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to purchase a similar program.
Additionally, for staff and faculty covered by Cornell's Endowed Health Plans administered by Aetna: Endowed health plans administered by Aetna on the Ithaca campus and the health plans for the Weill Cornell Medical College campus offer enhanced coverage for international travel on University business.
